We influence the environment and society around us as a provider of ICT services and device supplier for both public sector and B2B customers. Our logistics and lifecycle services are certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems.

How we put environmental responsibility into practice at Tietokeskus

Considering, assessing and analysing environmental impacts are integral to our business, and our IT equipment logistics and lifecycle services are certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental management system standard.

Our operations are guided by an environmental plan aimed at the systematic development of environmental management and the active reduction of environmental impacts across all our activities, in line with our environmental policy.

The key objectives of our environmental plan focus on energy solutions for our premises and data centres, as well as reducing the use of fossil fuels in equipment logistics.

Ensuring the longest possible lifecycle for devices

Our IT equipment as a service solution significantly reduces the need for new device purchases, thereby lowering the environmental burden. Combined with Tietokeskus’ comprehensive lifecycle services, we ensure the longest possible lifecycle for each device.

Our versatile recycling services guarantee efficient and environmentally friendly reuse of devices, extending their lifespan. Through these services, we recycled over 20,000 workstations for reuse in 2024. If reuse is not possible – for example, due to the device’s condition – we recycle the equipment in an environmentally responsible way in cooperation with certified partners. In 2024, more than 36,000 IT devices were processed through our recycling services.

Secure and environmentally friendly data centres

Sustainable development is also a key principle in the production of Tietokeskus’s capacity and colocation services. Our partner, Verne Global Finland, operates data centres using 100% renewable energy, with special attention paid to the efficiency of cooling systems. The heat generated from cooling is recovered and reused, either within our own facilities or through the public district heating network.
