The collaboration between the Sports Institute Foundation and Tietokeskus began fifteen years ago. “At first, we ordered equipment and then we signed a maintenance agreement. We are a small office, and it suits us well that Tietokeskus takes care of everything,” says Heidi Taberman, specialist at the Sports Institute Foundation.
“Many IT support companies don’t even take on clients as small as our office. Tietokeskus accepted us as a client back then, and it has gone very well. Outsourcing saves us time because we don’t have to handle IT ourselves, and support is always quickly available,” she continues.
Tietokeskus provides the Sports Institute Foundation with local support, backup services, firewall services, security services, and O365 services. “The foundation has a simple, small cloud environment. It scales up and down as needed,” explains Joonas Klaavu from Tietokeskus.
A bold move to the cloud
When the collaboration started, the Sports Institute Foundation still had its own server environment, but a few years ago, a full migration to the cloud was made. “The foundation approached exploring cloud services openly and boldly,” Klaavu explains.
“Moving the documents to the cloud was a bit challenging, but they finally made it. And fortunately, we decided to try it, because cloud services enable flexible remote working for a small office and they work really well!” Taberman praises.
Small organisations are often at the forefront and experiment with new solutions courageously. “Of course, in any renewal, the needs of the business and day-to-day operations must always be considered. We continuously think about what would be the most sensible, secure, and cost-effective solution for the foundation,” Klaavu says.
“Even though we have been able to reduce communication significantly after the cloud migration, because things run smoothly on their own, I still believe in continued effective and straightforward collaboration.”– Heidi Taberman
